FAQ’s

Q: What inspires your artwork?

A: My work is rooted in mythology, archetype, and the natural world. I paint archetypal women and the symbolic language that has been used to describe feminine strength, identity, and transformation across centuries. Living in the mountains of British Columbia, the land also shows up in the work: wild plants, animals, and the kind of imagery that feels like an old memory or dream.

Q: How would you describe your artistic style?

A: Contemporary and mainly figurative with abstract passages, grounded in realism and softened by symbolism. I work in mixed media, layering acrylic, oil, gold leaf, and textural mark-making to build surface depth. The finished pieces sit somewhere between portraiture, myth, and atmosphere.

Q: Do you take custom commissions?

A: Yes. I accept a small number of private commissions each year for collectors who want a piece made specifically for their space. You can read more about the commission process and enquire here.

Q: How long does it take for a commissioned piece to be completed?

A: Most commissions take between six and twelve weeks from initial consultation to delivery, depending on size, complexity, and my current schedule. I'll give you a clear timeline before we begin.

Q: Can I visit your studio?

A: My Pemberton studio is a working space rather than a public gallery, but I do welcome collector visits by appointment. If you're travelling through the Sea to Sky corridor and would like to see work in person, please reach out to arrange a time.

Q: What sizes do you paint?

A: Most of my originals range from 16 x 20 inches to 48 x 60 inches. Commissions can be made larger or smaller to suit your space. Size is part of the initial conversation.

Q: Do your paintings come framed?

A: Original paintings on canvas are sold unframed but finished on the edges, so they can be hung directly. Works on wood panel are ready to hang as-is. For commissioned pieces, I can arrange custom framing through a trusted local framer at an additional cost if you'd like.

Q: How do I care for my artwork?

A: Hang your work out of direct sunlight and away from extremes of humidity or dryness. A gentle dusting with a soft, dry cloth is all most pieces need. Never use water or cleaning products on a painting. If you have specific questions about a piece you own, I'm happy to help.

Q: How can I stay updated on your new releases and events?

A: Join the Art by Keita Collector’s Circle . The Collector's Circle is my private mailing list for people who want to see new work first. Members receive early access to new collections (usually 24 to 48 hours before public release), studio updates, and occasional notes on the stories and symbolism behind specific paintings. You can join here.

Q: Do you ship internationally?

A: Yes. Prints typically arrive within two weeks in Canada and the US, and around three weeks internationally. Originals and commissions are shipped with specialist art couriers and timelines vary by destination. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout or included in your commission quote.

Q: What is your return and exchange policy for artwork purchases?

A: I want every collector to be fully happy with their piece. If anything is damaged in transit or not as expected, please contact me within 14 days of receiving your work and we'll arrange a replacement, repair, or refund. Due to the nature of original art and commissions, returns for change of mind are handled case by case.

Q: Do you offer art classes or workshops?

A: My in-person classes and workshops in Pemberton and Whistler are run through my separate business, The Creative Cupboard, where I offer weekly art classes, paint nights, and occasional workshops with other local partners. For collaboration enquiries, email hello@artbykeita.com.

Q: Are you open to brand collaborations?

A: Yes. I work selectively with interior designers, galleries, and hospitality clients on commissioned pieces, licensing, and collaborations. Please email hello@artbykeita.com with your project details, timeline, and whether you're interested in commissioning original work, licensing existing images, or another arrangement.
